Artist Statement

As an artist, the profound beauty and intricate patterns found in nature serve as my constant inspiration. My journey has taken me across the globe, photographing over 50 coffee farms, each with its unique tapestry of life and culture. This experience, combined with my humanitarian efforts, fuels my passion for art, infusing it with a vibrant palette of colors and designs drawn from diverse landscapes and communities around the world.

In both my nature photography and encaustic paintings, I strive to create moments of healing and connection. The natural world, whether captured through my lens or expressed through textured layers of wax, offers viewers a chance to pause, reflect, and appreciate the present moment. My art celebrates life's delicate details. Nature is my muse, guiding my creative process and revealing a harmonious balance of light and dark, color and design.

Humanitarian work deeply inspires me, influencing not only my artistic expression but also my commitment to using art as a means of helping others. This dual focus enriches my work, allowing me to connect more profoundly with people and the earth. Each piece I create is a testament to the energy and purpose I feel, a spiritual journey that invites viewers to experience healing and reconnection with the world around them.

Through my photographs and paintings, I aim to inspire stillness and wonder, encouraging viewers to see the world through my eyes and experience the peace and connection that art can bring to our lives. My work is a vibrant celebration of life, driven by a deep seated desire to foster understanding and compassion through the universal language of art.

Driven by a heartfelt desire to give a voice to the unseen and unheard, Kim uses the power of photography to forge deep connections and authentically tell the stories of individuals and communities. With her compassionate eye behind the lens, her captivating and thought provoking photographs aim to make a positive impact on the world.

Since 2019, Kim has embarked on an awe inspiring mission to document the world of coffee farms and the communities they impact with Biggby Coffee's CEO and founder Bob Fish's project called One Bigg Island in Space.  This incredible project has taken her to remote locations across Africa and Central America, showcasing the beauty and struggles of these often overlooked regions. Kim has now moved on from this project after six years to focus on her fine art photography and encaustic paintings.
